Customizing Celebration Messages

Confetti Bot lets you fully customize the messages sent for birthdays and work anniversaries.

Birthday Messages

To customize birthday messages:

  1. Open the Confetti Bot Home tab in Slack
  2. Under “Message & Design Customizations”, click Customize Birthday
  3. Edit the message template
  4. Save your changes

Available Variables

Use these variables in your birthday messages (with double curly braces):

  • {{name}} — Team member’s display name (shown as a Slack mention)
  • {{date}} — The team member’s birthday date (e.g., March 15)

Example Messages

Simple:

Happy birthday, {{name}}! Have an amazing day!

Fun:

It's {{name}}'s special day! Everyone wish them a fantastic birthday!

Work Anniversary Messages

To customize work anniversary messages:

  1. From the Home tab, click Customize Anniversary under “Message & Design Customizations”
  2. Edit the message template
  3. Save your changes

Available Variables

Anniversary messages support these variables:

  • {{name}} — Team member’s display name (shown as a Slack mention)
  • {{date}} — The team member’s hire date (e.g., June 1, 2020)
  • {{years}} — Formatted years of service (e.g., “1 year” or “5 years”)
  • {{years_number}} — Number only (e.g., “1” or “5”)

Example Messages

Standard:

Congratulations {{name}} on {{years}} with the team!

Milestone:

Today marks {{name}}'s {{years_number}}-year work anniversary! Thank you for your dedication!

Pre-built Templates

Confetti Bot includes a library of pre-built message templates across different tones — Professional, Casual, Fun, Minimal, and more. You can apply any template with one click and customize it further from there.

Preview and Test

Before saving, use the Preview Celebration button on the Home tab to see exactly how your message will appear in Slack. You can also send a test celebration to yourself to verify the formatting.

Tips for Great Messages

  • Keep messages warm and genuine
  • Match your company’s tone and culture
  • Use emojis sparingly but effectively
  • Consider setting up milestone anniversary messages for special years like 1, 5, and 10
