Having issues with Confetti Bot? Here are solutions to common problems.

Celebrations Not Posting

Check the channel

  • Make sure Confetti Bot has been added to the celebration channel (especially for private channels — you need to invite the bot manually)
  • Verify the channel is selected in your Posting Settings

Check the posting time

  • Celebrations post at your configured time in your configured timezone
  • Verify your timezone setting is correct in Posting Settings

Check team member data

  • Ensure the team member has a birthday or hire date entered
  • Make sure they haven’t opted out of celebrations
  • Use Look Up Team Member to verify their information

Bot Not Responding

Check permissions

  • Ensure Confetti Bot has the necessary permissions in your Slack workspace
  • Try re-authorizing the app from the Confetti Bot website

Re-install the bot

If the bot is completely unresponsive:

  1. Remove Confetti Bot from your workspace
  2. Re-install from our website
  3. Reconfigure your settings

HRIS Sync Issues

Connection failed

  • Try disconnecting and reconnecting your HRIS from the Connect HR System button
  • Verify your HRIS credentials are correct
  • Check if your HRIS API is accessible

Team members not appearing

  • Confirm team members exist in your HRIS with valid email addresses
  • Check that HRIS email addresses match Slack user emails (matching is case-insensitive)
  • Click Sync Now to trigger a manual sync or wait for the next sync cycle
  • Check the sync status dashboard for unmatched team members

Slack User Not Matched

Confetti Bot matches team members to Slack users by email address (case-insensitive).

To fix:

  1. Ensure the team member’s email in Confetti Bot (or your HRIS) matches their Slack email
  2. Update either the Confetti Bot record, the HRIS record, or the Slack profile email to match

Messages Not Customized

Template not saving

  • Make sure you click “Save” after editing your message template
  • Check for any validation errors in the template

Variables not working

  • Ensure you’re using the correct variable format with double curly braces: {{variable_name}}
  • Available birthday variables: {{name}}, {{date}}
  • Available anniversary variables: {{name}}, {{date}}, {{years}}, {{years_number}}
  • Check for typos in variable names
